Fundraising Update

As many of you know, Danielle and I reached our $6,540 fundraising goal for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) the night before we began our journey on the Appalachian Trail! We are so grateful for the overwhelming support! With 1,000 miles left to hike, we have decided to raise our fundraising goal by $1,000! Please consider helping us reach our amended goal of $7,540. Here is the link to our fundraising page: http://afsp.donordrive.com/campaign/milesforsmiles

Hiking to raise money for AFSP has been one of the most rewarding aspects of hiking the Appalachian Trail. Danielle and I have engaged in countless conversations about mental health in our quest to spread awareness and reduce stigma. Even more significantly, we have been extremely humbled by the amount of people who have come forward to share their story and connection to this cause. We realize now, more than ever, that EVERYONE knows someone who struggles with a mental health condition. We will continue to foster healthy conversations about mental health on the trail and hope these open, respectful conversations will contribute, in some small way, to reducing the stigma that surrounds depression and suicide.
